Sticky Sesame Chicken & Takeout-Style Fried Rice 🍗🍚

This better-than-takeout plate is sweet, sticky, and hits the spot on a busy weeknight.

📝 Ingredients :

Sesame Chicken

1 1/2 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into bite-size chunks

1 tsp kosher salt ( I used our PINK HIMALAYAN SALT

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp TOASTED SESAME GINGER

1 large egg, beaten

1/2 cup cornstarch

3–4 tbsp neutral oil (avocado/vegetable), for pan-frying ( I used coconut oil)

1 tbsp EVERYTHING BAGEL

2 green onions, sliced (for topping)

Sticky Sauce

1/3 cup soy sauce (low-sodium if you want- and I would use less than 1/3 cup)

1/4 cup honey

2 tbsp brown sugar (packed)

2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

1 tsp GRANULATED GARLIC

1 tsp Toasted Sesame Ginger

1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp cold water (slurry)

1 tsp toasted sesame oil (optional, but awesome)

Fried Rice

3 cups cooked rice (cold is best)

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup frozen peas & carrots (optional)

2–3 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp butter (or oil)

2 green onions, sliced (optional)

🍽️ ** How to Make It :**

1️⃣ Crisp Up the Chicken

Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dip pieces in the beaten egg, then toss in cornstarch until coated. Pan-fry in hot oil over medium-high heat, 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.

2️⃣ Make the Sticky Sauce

In the same skillet, whisk in soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes, then stir in the slurry and cook until thick and glossy.

3️⃣ Sauce + Sesame Finish

Toss the chicken back in and stir until every piece is coated—this is that classic sesame chicken shine. Kill the heat, stir in sesame oil (if using), then sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

4️⃣ Quick Fried Rice

In a separate skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Scramble the eggs, then add rice (and veggies if using). Splash in soy sauce and stir-fry 3–5 minutes until it smells like legit fried rice.

5️⃣ Serve or Meal Prep

Plate it up warm, or portion into clear glass meal prep containers for an easy weeknight dinner that reheats like a dream.
